Cruise Control failed
Abdul Majeed Al Otaibi was driving the car when the cruise control malfunctioned. His car was speeding up, and pushing the brakes did not deactivate the cruise control.
Highway Patrol in action
After all efforts to slow down the vehicle had failed, he immediately contacted the highway patrol at 996 for help. I started reciting لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله.
The highway patrol sprang into action, cleared the roads in front of him, and guided him on the phone on how to disable the cruise control system.
Ultimately, the car stopped when its fuel tank finished. Without the Highway patrol, he could have met a fatal accident way before that.

In one instance, a Saudi man lost control of his car when the cruise control option malfunctioned and locked at 180 kilometers per hour on the Qassim Highway.
The highway authorities helped clear the roads in front while also escorting him until the car finally stopped because it ran out of gas.

Another instance was when the cruise control function in an automobile malfunctioned and locked in at 200 kilometers per hour.
This driver also called the Highway authority, and similar actions were taken to escort the vehicle while clearing out the roads in front. This car also only stopped once it completely ran out of fuel.
