What is the crime?
As per Article 154 of the Civil Aviation Law in Saudi Arabia, stealing the property of an aircraft or the belongings of passengers is a major crime that can lead to both fines and arrest.
According to legal experts, stealing aircraft belongings such as blankets, pillows, headphones, and utensils also falls into this category of crime.
What is the penalty?
Article 167 of the Civil Aviation Law states that any person who steals the aircraft shall be punished with 5 years in jail or a fine of R500,000, or both penalties together.
