He took the charge in the Battle of Mutah
It was at this time that Khalid bin Waleed رضي الله عنه stepped forward and took charge of the Muslim army for the first time. With his exceptional skills, he successfully commanded a protective withdrawal.
During this battle, he broke 9 swords and was given the title ‘Saifullah’ which means the ‘Sword of Allah’.
He is known as the undefeated commander of all times and he is noted for his military expertise. He commanded the forces of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه and Omar رضي الله عنه.

Khalid bin Waleed رضي الله عنه was not an ordinary warrior, he has the title of being undefeated in over a hundred battles. These battles also include the ones against the mighty forces of the Byzantine Roman Empire, the Sassanid Persian Empire, and their allies.

Khalid bin Waleed رضي الله عنه took part in the farewell Hajj of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. When Prophet Muhammad ﷺ shaved his head, Khalid picked up some of his hair.
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ asked him why he did that? Khalid bin Waleed رضي الله عنه replied that he is keeping them as a relic with him. This blessed hair would make him win battles.
He wanted to be martyred in the battleground
It was the wish of Khalid bin Waleed رضي الله عنه to be martyred in battle and therefore it was a tragedy for him to die on his bed.
Once he said himself, “there is no part in my body where there is no wound, yet I am dying like an ordinary man.” He stated that his death is like the death of a camel.
How old was khalid ibn walid when he died?
Khalid bin Waleed رضي الله عنه died a natural death at the age of 50 years because he was the Sword of Allah and it was not possible to kill him in the battlefield as the sword of Allah cannot be broken.
Khalid bin Waleed رضي الله عنه is buried along with his son in the Mosque of Homs in Syria. His tombstone lists over 50 victorious battles that he led.
