10 Hidden WhatsApp features you didn’t know before

If you are a regular user of WhatsApp for executive or individual purposes and you are in search of the methods to increase the conversational experience, we will provide you some techniques and tricks for the betterment of this messaging app.

1. Secure your WhatsApp using a Fingerprint lock

Whatsapp can be made more reliable with the fingerprint unlocking. For this purpose, you have to register your fingerprint on the mobile so that no one can access your phone without your permission.

How? Go to WhatsApp settings, accounts, and then privacy. You should know that in case your authentication for the fingerprint unlocks fails, you are left with no option to unlock your WhatsApp.

2. Hide WhatsApp group photos and videos from the gallery

Whatsapp has provided us with some new features to conceal the content of some specific Whatsapp groups.  This feature will only hide the new incoming pictures and videos, but the previous one will exist as it, and you have to delete them from the mobile’s gallery.

• How? Click on the name of that particular group and turn off the media visibility.

3. Delete images or videos from a particular WhatsApp group

Messages, chats, videos, and audios from a particular WhatsApp group can be deleted, if they are occupying the space and memory of your phone.

How? Click on Settings, Data Storage, and Usage and then select Data Usage. You will see each group with its occupying data that can be deleted by choosing that particular group or person. In this way, you can get rid of useless videos, audios, and messages.

4. Pin conversation or make shortcuts

You can keep the particular person on the top by just long pressing that conversation and selecting the Pin option.

How? The shortcut of some conversation can also be created by pressing the triple-dot option.

5. Mark message and easily find them later

You can also spot and protect the information like address, phone numbers, reference numbers, and essential images, sent by someone important to you because there is a method to do it.

How? You can do this only by long-pressing a specific message and taping the top icon. The starred messages can be recovered by tapping the triple dot menu icon on the home screen.

6. Delete for Everyone

Whatsapp has launched a new feature to delete a message you have already sent from another person’s mobile. If you have sent a message and you want to delete it now, not only from your phone but also from the phone of another person, you can easily do it now. 

How? At the time of deleting the message, Whatsapp will ask you “Delete for me” or “Delete for Everyone”.

7. Live Location

Another mind-blowing feature introduced by Whatsapp is sharing Live-Location. While going on a long drive in a group of people, you must have realized that if somebody leaves behind, you feel trouble to tell him the exact location you are at the moment.

Using the live-location function, all the group can access the real-time location of each other and meet everyone in the group.

8. Bold, Italics, and Strike-Through

While chatting with someone on WhatsApp you are no more bound to write in the same old fashion. You can now make the letters bold, italicized or you can use the strike-through option as well.

If you want to make letters bold, just add a * sign at both the start and end of the word. Word can be italicized by adding _ sign and strike-through option cab is used by addition of ~ sign at the start and end of the specific word.

9. Disabling Blue Ticks

Whenever a message is seen by the recipient, two blue tick marks appear next to the text, if you want to disable this feature for the messages you receive, you can do that by using the new feature.

How? It is to be noted that if you disable this feature for the received messages it will be removed for the sent messages as well. To disable this feature, go to the settings in the app, then account and then the privacy tab and in privacy, you can disable the “Read Receipts”.

10. Saving Chat History

WhatsApp users can now save their chat history. Just open settings menu in the app, click chats and then click Backup. Here you can configure the chat backup settings and you may set backup frequency to weekly or monthly schedule. While saving the history, videos can also be saved.
