To authorize someone to sell your property in Pakistan, you must give a power of attorney (PoA) duly attested by the embassy or consulate.

- Executant: The person who is giving the PoA.
- Attorney: The person who is authorized to sell your property.
Writing the Power of Attorney
First of all, contact a lawyer back in Pakistan to draft a power of attorney for you with a specific purpose, such as selling a particular property.
Although you can get help from petition writers sitting in front of the Pakistan Embassy or Consulate, hiring a professional lawyer is better.
Witness Signatures
The lawyer will email you the draft power of attorney which you need to print for attestation from the Pakistan Embassy or consulate.
Write the names and the CNIC numbers of two witnesses who know you personally and get the document signed by them.
Required Documents
You need to bring two sets of the following documents with you to the Pakistan Embassy or Consulate to attest a power of attorney;
- Proof of Ownership of the property (Fard, Registration deed, inheritance certificate).
- Original CNIC + copy of the executant.
- Copy of Saudi Iqama of the executant.
- Saudi mobile number of the executant.
- Two passport-sized photographs of the executant.
- CNIC copy of the Attorney.
- Pakistani mobile number of the attorney.
- CNIC copies of two witnesses.
Visit Pakistan Embassy
After arranging the above-mentioned required documents, visit the petition writers sitting in front of the Pakistan Embassy or consulate at around 10 am.
They will help you fill out other forms, impose a red stamp on your documents and arrange for them to be presented to the embassy against the SR 15 fee.
Visit the attestation office in the embassy or consulate and present the power of attorney and the related documents on the counter.
- Present original CNIC or passport for identity verification.
- Sign a power of attorney in front of the consular officer.
- Impose the thumb impressions in front of the consular officer.
- Pay the attestation fee of SR 18.
Collecting the documents
The consular officer will ask you to wait around 1 hour to complete the attestation. Once your document is ready, he will call your name to get the documents.
You will find an electronic power of attorney printed by the consular officer along with an attested set of documents.
Make sure to check the following details in the electronic power of attorney before you leave the embassy or consulate;
- Name and Father Name of the Executant.
- CNIC Number of the Executant.
- Name and Father Name of the Attorney.
- CNIC Number of the Attorney.
Sending documents to Pakistan
My lawyer advised me to send the attested power of attorney to Pakistan and the property’s registration documents only through the courier service.
The attorney will have to visit Pakistan Foreign Office to ratify the document. The foreign office does not ratify any document without proof that the document has been dispatched through the courier service.
- The validity of the Power of Attorney is 120 days.
Canceling the power of attorney
If you want to cancel the power of attorney after it is attested, you need to bring all the above-mentioned documents to the Pakistan Embassy or Consulate and follow a similar process for cancellation.
