Ayat-ul-Kursi – Arabic Text

اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ ۚ لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ ۚ لَّهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ ۗ مَن ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِندَهُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ ۚ يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ ۖ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيْءٍ مِّنْ عِلْمِهِ إِلَّا بِمَا شَاءَ ۚ وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ ۖ وَلَا يَئُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ

Ayat-ul-Kursi – English translation

Allah – there is no God except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence.

• Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep.
  
• To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth.
  
• Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission?
  
• He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills.
  
• His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not.
  
• And He is the Highest, the Greatest. – Quran 2:255

Protection from Jinns

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said whoever recites Ayat-ul-Kursi when he rises in the morning will be protected from Jinns until he retires in the evening, and whoever says it when retiring in the evening will be safeguarded from Jinns until he rises in the morning. – Hisn al-Muslim 75

Protection for Day/Night

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: If anyone recites the first 3 verses of Surah Ghafir (40:1-3) and Ayat-ul-Kursi in the morning, he will be guarded by angels till the evening, and if anyone recites them in the evening, he will be guarded by them till the morning. – Mishkat al-Masabih 2144

Protection of House

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: If anyone recites Ayat-ul-Kursi when he goes to bed, Allah will grant security to his house, his neighbor’s house, and the inhabitants of the little dwellings around him. – Mishkat al-Masabih 974

Guarantee for Jannah

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: If anyone recites Ayat-ul-Kursi at the end of every Salah (Namaz), nothing but death will prevent him from entering Jannah. – Mishkat al-Masabih 974

No GraveYard

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: Do not turn your houses into graveyards. Satan runs away from the house in which Surat Al-Baqarah is recited. – Riyad as-Salihin 1018

In another Hadith, it is mentioned that Satan runs away from the house if someone recites Ayat-ul-Kursi at home. – Hisn al-Muslim 143\

Protection from Satan

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said when you go to your bed, recite Ayat-al-Kursi, for then there will be a guard from Allah who will protect you all night long, and Satan will not be able to come near you till dawn. – Sahih al-Bukhari 5010
