How to replace a number plate in Saudi Arabia?

If you have lost or damaged your car number plate in Saudi Arabia, you can replace it with a new one by following this procedure.

• Step 1: Report the lost car number plate.
• Step 2: Pay the plate replacement fee.
• Step 3: Request the replacement of the number plate.
• Step 4: Collect the Number Plate. 

Step 1: Report the lost car number plate

To replace a lost or stolen car number plate in Saudi Arabia, you need to report it through Absher. However, if your car number plate is not lost, you can start with Step 2.

• Log in to Absher https://www.absher.sa/
• Click on the “Vehicles” tab.
• Select “Vehicles Management“.
• Choose the car under your ownership.
• Click on the “Report Lost or Stolen Plate“.

Absher will open a new page where you need to;

• Select “New Request“.
• Choose one from “Lost” or “Stolen“.
• Fill in the required details and submit the form.

Step 2: Pay the fee

In order to pay the fee to replace the car number plate in Saudi Arabia, we are using Al Rajhi bank.

• Download the Application through PlayStore or iTunes.
• Log in to your internet banking account.
• Click on the “Payments” tab at the bottom of the screen.
• Press the “Government Payments” button.
• Now select “Motor Vehicles“.
• Click on the option “Re-Issue License Plate (Two Plates)“.

On the next page writ the following;

• Current Owner ID: Iqama Number.
• Enter the Vehicle Sequence Number.
• Plate Issuance Reason: Lost.
• Logo: Issue the Vehicle License Plate without a Logo.
• Fee to replace a car number plate without a logo: SR 100.
• Fee to replace a car number plate wito a logo: SR 800.

Step 3: Request for the replacement

In this step, you need to request the replacement of the car number plate on Absher.

• Log in to Absher https://www.absher.sa/
• Click on the “Vehicles” tab.
• Select “Vehicles Management“.
• Choose the car under your ownership.

In the next step of replacing car number plates;

• Click on the “Vehicle Plates Replacement“.
• Select the Size and the number of plates you want.

In the next step,

• Select your city.
• Select the postal office from where you can pick up the number plate.
• Pay an SR 109.25 fee for the delivery of the number plate.
• The number plate will arrive in 5-7 working days. 

Step 4: Collect the new number plate

The postal service will send you an SMS along with a map of the location where your number plate has arrived.

• Once you are at the courier service office, remove your current number plates.
• Hand over your old number plates to them, and only then will they issue a new number plate.
• Replace the new number plate on your car.

Approval to drive with one number plate

In case only one of your car number plates are stolen or lost, you can fill the following form and get it stamped by the Muroor. It is actually an authorization to drive the vehicle with one number plate.
