Khadija was a businesswoman
People who consider Islam a backward religion should know that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ married a practical businesswoman 1400 years ago.
Khadija bint Khuwaylid رضي الله عنها was born in a family of merchants, his father was one of the most reputable and successful merchants in Makkah. She took over the business after the death of her father and continued the trade.
A proposal to Prophet Muhammad

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ started working for Khadija bint Khuwaylid رضي الله عنها. She was inspired by his honesty that she sent a marriage proposal that the Holy Prophet accepted.
She married at 40

Khadija رضي الله عنها married Prophet Muhammad ﷺ when she was 40 and he was 25. Together they had six children;

- Ruqayyah رضي الله عنها.
- Umm Kulthoom رضي الله عنها.
- Fatimah رضي الله عنها.
- Abdullah رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ.
Khadija is the first Muslim
The revelations to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ started during his marriage to Khadija رضي الله عنها and she was the first person to believe in him and embrace Islam.
She spent her entire wealth on Islam
