How to authorize a vehicle in Absher?

As per Article 17 of Traffic Law, you can authorize someone to drive your car in Saudi Arabia and outside KSA through the vehicle authorization service in Absher. Here is the detailed process;

Requirements for Vehicle Authorization

To authorize someone to drive your vehicle through Absher, the following are the requirements;

1. Iqama number of the driver.
2. Date of Birth of the Driver.
3. Valid Istimara.
4. Valid Car Insurance.
5. Valid Iqama of the driver.
6. Valid driving license of the driver.
7. No unpaid traffic violations.
8. Absher account of the driver.
9. The driver must be nearby to provide the OTP Code.
10. Valid exit reentry visa of the driver for outside KSA authorization.

How to authorize a vehicle in Absher?

To authorize a friend/family member to drive your car through Absher;

• Log in to your Absher account https://www.absher.sa/ 
• Click on the “Vehicles” tab.
• Select “Vehicles Management” from the options.
• Click on the Vehicle you want to authorize.
• Select the “Issue Driver Authorization” option.
• Click on the “Next” button to agree to the terms.

In the next step to authorize a vehicle through Absher, 

• Enter the Iqama Number of the driver.
• Enter the Date of Birth of the driver.
• Geographical Coverage: Inside or outside Saudi Arabia.
• Authorized Duration: Select the duration for vehicle authorization.

On this final step to authorize a vehicle through Absher, you need to;

• Enter the OTP code sent to the driver’s phone number registered with Absher.
• Click on the “Print Authorization Confirmation“.
• That’s it, you have successfully authorized your friend to drive your car.

Inside Kingdom v/s Outside Saudi Arabia

Absher allows you to authorize someone to drive your car inside the Kingdom or outside Saudi Arabia.

• Inside Kingdom: A vehicle authorization can be issued to any Iqama holder to drive your car inside Saudi Arabia for any duration.
• Outside Kindgom: Only a family member can drive your car outside Saudi Arabia for the same duration for which exit reentry is valid.
• Error: Sorry! External driver authorization type is not allowed. A resident vehicle owner can authorize his family members of sponosrees only for external authorization.

Cancel Vehicle Authorization

If the vehicle owner wants to cancel the vehicle authorization in Saudi Arabia, he will have to follow this process;

• Log in to your Absher account https://www.absher.sa/ 
• Click on the “Services” under the Vehicles tab.
• Select “Vehicles Management” from the options.
• Click on the “View/Cancel Driver Authorization“.
• Press the button “Cancel Authorization“.

That’s it, you have successfully canceled the vehicle authorization issued in Saudi Arabia.

If the driver wants to cancel the vehicle authorization in Saudi Arabia, he will have to follow this process;

• Log in to your Absher account https://www.absher.sa/ 
• Click on the “Services” under the Vehicles tab.
• Select “Vehicles Management” from the options.
• Click the car under “Received Driver Authorizations“.
• Select “Cancel Authorization“.
• Enter the OTP Code sent to the vehicle owner.

That’s it, you have successfully canceled the vehicle authorization issued in Saudi Arabia.

Terms & Conditions

• You can authorize only one of your vehicles to someone else. 
• The traffic violation will be registered directly to the authorized person.
• You can only add one authorized driver for each vehicle.
