13 ways to increase your Rizq in Islam

Struggling to get a salary increment? Maybe you are trying all wrong. Islam provides 13 ways to increase your Rizq (wealth) through several verses in the Quran and Hadith.

Don’t forget, one of the 99 names of Allah is Ar-Razzaq (الرَّزَّاقُ) i.e. the provider of food and subsistence. 

Tawba (repentance)

Quran describes that seeking forgiveness for your sins from Allah ﷻ is the way to increase your Rizq or wealth in Surah Nooh 71:10-12.

Seek your Lord’s forgiveness, He is truly the Most Forgiving. He will shower you with abundant rain, supply you with wealth and children, and give you gardens as well as rivers. 

Taqwa (fearing Allah)

In Surah At-Talaq 71:2-3, the Quran states fearing Allah ﷻ is another way to increase your wealth as per Islam.

And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him a way out and provide for them from sources they could never imagine.

Keeping ties with blood relations

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said whoever would like his lifespan to be extended, his provision to be increased and a bad death to be warded off from him, let him fear Allah and uphold his ties of kinship. – Musnad Ahmad 1213

Sadaqah (charity)

Quran states in Surah al-Baqarah 2:261 that you can easily increase your wealth by paying Sadaqah for whatever money you have. 

The example of those who spend their wealth in the cause of Allah is that of a grain that sprouts into seven ears, each bearing one hundred grains. And Allah multiplies ˹the reward even more˺ to whoever He wills.

Ibadah (worship)

Allah ﷻ says devote yourself to My worship, and I will fill your heart with contentment and take care of your poverty. – Sunan Ibn Majah 4107

Hajj & Umrah

As per one hadith, performing Hajj and Umrah is another way to increase your Rizq and remove poverty.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said to perform Hajj and ‘Umrah consecutively; for they remove poverty and sin as the bellows remove impurity from iron. – Sunan an-Nasa’i 2630

Tawakkal (belief in Allah)

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said if you truly put your trust in Allah, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds: they go out with empty stomachs and come back with full stomachs. – Musnad Ahmad 370

Nikah (marriage)

In Surah An-Nur 24:32, Allah ﷻ says that he will enrich the married couples with His bounties.

Marry off the ˹free˺ singles among you, as well as the righteous of your bondmen and bondwomen. If they are poor, Allah will enrich them out of His bounty. 

Dua (supplications)

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to recite the following dua after the Fajr prayer, اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْماً نافِعاً وَرِزْقاً طَيِّباً وَعَمَلاً مُتَقَبَّلاً.

O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is beneficial, sustenance which is good, and deeds which are acceptable.

Thanking Allah

In Surah Ibrahim 14:7, Allah ﷻ provides the formula for increasing the Rizq and wealth;

If you are grateful, I will certainly give you more. But if you are ungrateful, surely My punishment is severe.

Being Honest in Business

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said whoever sells defective goods without pointing it out, will remain subject to the wrath of Allah, and the angels will continue to curse him. – Sunan Ibn Majah 2247

Having Children

In Surah Al-Isra’ 17:31, Allah ﷻ says that he is the one who provides Rizq to your children.

Do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We provide for them and for you.

Reciting Quran

Many spiritual leaders recommend their followers to recite Surah Fajr and Surah Al Waqia every morning after the Fajr prayer for Rizq.
