List of traffic violation fines on Taxi Drivers

The Public Transport Authority has published 24 traffic violation fines on public and private taxi drivers in Saudi Arabia. Here is the list;

SR 5,000 fine

The following traffic violations committed by taxi drivers would result in a fine of SR 5,000;

1- Private taxis transporting passengers for a fee within or between the cities of Saudi Arabia.

2- Making unauthorized changes to the taxi.

3- Using a taxi for a period exceeding its approved lifespan.

4- Failure in fixing the electronic fare meter in the taxi.

5- Expat driving taxi without Iqama profession of a taxi driver.

SR 3,000 fine

The following traffic violations committed by taxi drivers would result in a fine of SR 3,000;

6- Failure to start the fare calculation meter at the start of the trip.

7- Failure to contact PTA within 10 days of summoning.

8- Driving a public taxi with an expired work permit/Iqama.

SR 2,000 fine

The following traffic violations committed by taxi drivers would result in a fine of SR 2,000;

9- Expired Fahas certificate.

10- Failure to hand over the lost items of passengers to police.

SR 1,000 fine

The following traffic violations committed by taxi drivers would result in a fine of SR 1,000;

11- Asking passengers to step down after starting the trip.

12- Delay in the renewal of taxi license.

13- Picking passengers from the main road.

14- Failure to present the license documents when requested.

15- Not placing the necessary phrases, plates, or sign boards inside the taxi.

16- Not updating Saudi National Address.

17- Not converting the public taxi into a private car after the expiry of the lifespan.

SR 500 fine

The following traffic violations committed by taxi drivers would result in a fine of SR 500;

18- Smoking or allowing passengers to do so inside the taxi.

19- Violation of passenger’s privacy under any circumstances.

20- Carrying bags and non-hand luggage in the car cabin (not in the trunk).

21- Non-compliance with public morals and good treatment of passengers

22- Carelessness in appearance and personal hygiene

23- Failure to maintain the cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the taxi

24- Failure to assist persons with disabilities when getting in or out of the taxi.
