Prophet Daniyal Birth
Prophet Daniyal عليه السلام was born around 640 BC in present-day Palestine and died around 540 BC when he was 100+ years old. He saw the fall of Israel/Jerusalem and the destruction of the Sulaiman temple to the Babylonian army in his life.
During this time, Prophet Armiya عليه السلام was also preaching in Israel.
He was captured as a slave
The king of the Babylonian army, Nebuchadnezzar conquered Jerusalem, destroyed the Sulaiman temple, killed thousands of people from Bani Israel, burned the Torah, and took many people as slaves to Iraq out of which one was Prophet Daniyal عليه السلام.
He was thrown into the pit of 2 lions
King Nebuchadnezzar had two lions that were captured in a pit. When he captured Prophet Daniyal عليه السلام in 586 BC, he took him to Babylone (Iraq).
He threw Prophet Daniyal عليه السلام into the very pit. It is the rule of nature that all living creatures know the prophets and therefore, they do not harm them. The same happened with him as the lions did not even touch him. In fact, they started licking him.
Allah arranged food for Prophet Daniyal
Soon Prophet Daniyal عليه السلام felt hungry and wanted to eat and drink some food and water but he had nothing.
Prophet Armiya عليه السلام was in Palestine when Allah asked him to cook food for Daniyal. He was surprised as the distance between Iraq and Palestine was hundreds of kilometers.
Allah asked him to prepare the food and forget about the arrangement for the delivery of the food.
He prepared some food and when it got ready, Allah carried him and the food to the same pit in Babylon, Iraq where Prophet Daniyal عليه السلام was thrown.
- Prophet Daniyal عليه السلام asked: “Who is this?”
- Prophet Armiya عليه السلام answered: “I am Jeremiah.”
- Daniyal asked: “What brought you here?”
- Armiya answered: “Your Lord sent me to you.”
- Daniyal said: “And so my Lord has remembered me?”
- Armiya said: “Yes.”
Prophet Daniyal عليه السلام said: “Praise be to Allah Who never forgets those who appeal to Him!
And Praise be to Him Who compensates good with good, rewards patience with safety, dispels harm after the distress, assures us when we are overwhelmed, and is our hope when skill fails us.”
Prophet Daniyal Dream
Once Prophet Daniyal saw in his dream that the united kingdom of Media and Persia was like a two-horned ram before the rise of the Greeks. The invasion of two-horned one brought about the downfall of Babylon and the liberation of the Israelites. – Dan 8:3
Muslim scholars say that the two-horned ram here refers to Prophet Dhul-Qarnayn عليه السلام.
Dead body of Prophet Daniyal
In 636 AD when Muslim armies invaded Iran and camped at Ctesiphon, they found a bed with a dead man with a holy script at his bedside in the treasure house of Hormuzan. There was a ring recovered from his belongings with a gem carved with two lions with a man between them, whom they were licking.
When the sky was cloudless for them, they went out with his bed, and it rained.
They dug in the river bank 13 separate graves and buried him in one and leveled all the graves in order to mislead people for they would tamper with him.
There was no change in his body except for the hairs of his face (beard, and mustache) as the skin of the prophets is not harmed by the earth, nor devoured by hyenas.
According to the Muslims who revealed the body, it was the body of Prophet Daniyal عليه السلام.
Prophet Daniyal Tomb
Prophet Daniyal عليه السلام died in the 7th century BC in present-day Iran when he was 100+ years old. How he moved to Iran from Iraq is not known throughout history.
