How to challenge or dispute a traffic violation in KSA?

If you are wrongly charged with a traffic violation in Saudi Arabia, you can challenge, create a dispute or claim against it through Absher. Here is the procedure.

What to do before challenging a traffic violation?

Before registering a claim against a traffic violation in Saudi Arabia, make sure the following points;

1. Check the date and time of the traffic violation to ensure that you were driving at that time.
2. Check the location of the traffic fine to ensure that you were in the area where the violation took place.
3. If the violation is related to the usage of a phone, check the call records of the date and time.
4. Finally, check the picture of the traffic violation available on the Absher account.
5. If your dispute claim is rejected 5 times in a year, you cannot challenge the traffic violation again for the same year.

If after checking all this, you are confident that the traffic violation is generated by mistake, you can proceed to dispute the traffic violation.

How to dispute a traffic violation?

I would recommend using your desktop computer/laptop to challenge a traffic violation because you cannot see the picture on mobile.

• Log in to your Absher account https://www.absher.sa/
• Click on the “Services” under My Services.
• Select “Traffic” among the given options.
• Click on the “Dispute Traffic Violation” button in Absher.

Click on the “Dispute Violation” button after reading the following terms and conditions;

• You can only challenge a traffic fine within 30 days of the violation.
• The abuse of this service and the repeated rejection of disputes may lead to a temporary suspension of this service.

Find the traffic violation which you want to challenge and then click on the “Open” button.

A new page will open where you need to enter details to challenge the traffic violation.

• Dispute Reason: Select the reason according to your case.
• Additional Info: Explain the reason you want to create the dispute.
• Special character not allowed: Remove all the (. ! ?, ‘ “ etc) special characters and you should be good to go.
• Agree to the terms and conditions.
• Click on the “Submit Violation for Dispute“.
• Click on the “Confirm” button on the next page.

Congratulations, you have successfully created a dispute against the traffic violation. 

Check the status of traffic violation dispute

In order to  check the status of already challenged violations;

• Log in to your Absher account https://www.absher.sa/
• Click on the “Services” under My Services.
• Select “Traffic” among the given options.

• Click on the “Dispute Traffic Violation” button.
• Select the “View Disputed Violations” button.
• Dispute Status = Underprocessing.
• Dispute Status = Accepted to Cancel.

If the violation dispute is accepted by the traffic police, the amount of fine would be removed from your account within a week.

Visit the traffic police station

If the status of your traffic violation dispute remains “underprocessing” even after 7 days of making the claim, you should visit the traffic police station. In order to do that;

• Book a Muroor appointment with the purpose اجراءات الهيئات المرورية.
• Find the office of traffic violations.
• The designated officer will ask you to provide the “traffic violation ID“.
• If your case is successful, they will ask you to fill a form in Arabic.
• Submit the form and the fine will be removed from your Iqama.
