Can anyone be buried in Jannat ul Baqi?
Now the question arises: who gets the chance to be buried in Jannat ul Baqi? Baqi Cemetery is not open to everyone. You cannot use influences to get buried here.
The only criterion to be entitled to be buried in Jannat ul Baqi is where someone dies. If somebody takes his last breath in the city of Madina, he will be allowed to have a grave in Jannat ul Baqi.
If he dies anywhere else in Saudi Arabia, no matter who he is, he will not be buried in the Baqi Cemetery.
I know some people who have lived in Madina for decades and years and never left the city. They are afraid that if they die while they are outside the city of Madina, they will not be able to get a place in Jannat ul Baqi.
This is also one of the reasons that none of the Kings of Saudi Arabia got the opportunity to get buried in Saudi Arabia, as they didn’t die in the city of Madina.
Benefits of being buried in Jannat ul Baqi
Many scholars believe that there are some inherent benefits of being buried in Jannat ul Baqil, such as;
- Thousands of people visit Jannat ul Baqi every day and pray for Fatiha for all those who are resting in peace in that graveyard.
- There is a high chance that Allah will accept the prayers of those coming by and forgive the buried person.
- There must be some barakah of being buried with the best of the best people who have ever lived on the planet Earth.
Saad ibn-e-Abi Waqas رضي الله عنه and Saeed ibn Zayd رضي الله عنه both died outside the boundaries of Madina. However, they had requested people to move their bodies to Madina to bury them in Jannat ul Baqi, so there must be some benefits related to this.
